Legal Practice Co-ordinator
Reporting to the Director of Legal Practice (DLP), the Legal Practice Coordinator (LPC) works closely with the Operations Manager, operations and legal staff to ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the legal practice.
The LPC is primarily responsible for:
• Management of client intake and reception services and supervision and support of the intake team, including to monitor their day-to-day workflow;
• Ensuring the accurate and timely recording of data and information;
• Working collaboratively with the DLP and legal staff to ensure compliance with accreditation, funding, legal practice rules and standards;
• Supporting the day-to-day administration of IMCL’s digital information and operational practice systems including client, information, data and practice management programs and tools.
Selection criteria
Essential
• Demonstrated ability to manage a practice with profession-specific information and/or data management system/s.
• Experience in working for an organisation with mandatory compliance requirements, accreditation, practice codes and/or standards.
• Experience in managing multiple digital information and data storage platforms and identifying innovative information storage processes to improve effectiveness and/or client experience.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet completing deadlines whilst working responsively with people in a dynamic environment that involves interaction with staff, volunteers, clients, colleagues from legal centres and other stakeholders;
• Excellent computer and data base skills, ICT systems management and the MS Office suite (including Teams and SharePoint administration), including demonstrated ability to optimise data collection and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with senior staff, direct reports, and/or legal staff.
• Clear commitment to social justice and a proven ability to collaborate, be flexible, inclusive, proactive and work with respect for diversity and integrity in an engaged and positive work environment;
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or tertiary qualification plus relevant experience (4+ years):
1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as ICT management or business management; or
2. Tertiary qualification and equivalent experience (4+ years) in legal practice management, operations management and demonstrated experience implementing the improvement of organisational and ICT systems; or
3. A combination of legal training and relevant ICT and operational experience.
Desirable
• Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation, community legal centre or similar community organisation;
• Legal qualifications, or an excellent knowledge of the operations of a community legal centre.
